How do you make the optiarc ad 7580s dvd drive region free?

With difficulty.
Optiarc manufactures drives with NEC chipsets. These have been extensively worked on in terms of firmware patching and such like.
However, Optiarc also buy in drives from other manufacturers and rebrand them as their own. Yours is such a drive.
As far as I know there is no third-party firmware for these and therefore no means yet to flash them to region free.

All I can suggest is you purchase DVD Region Free from http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm
This should bypass the region coding.
