hi im completely new to this sort of thing, ive had a good look round and since i dont really know what im talking about i havnt found anything to help
basically i wanna rip the 5.1 surround sound from my dvd then convert it to an .ac3 file then convert that file into 6 seperate channel .wavs
ive downloaded dvd decrypter to rip the dvd to my computer but when i then try to convert this to .ac3 using eac3to it only converts it into 2.0 channels giving me 2 files, not the 5.1 that i want.
im pretty sure what im doing wrong is pretty simple to sort out but like i say im new to this so dont really know what im talking about lol
any help/advise would be hugely appreciated
cheers

It's a 2.0 track which is why you get two wav files :)
This means that either you've extracted the wrong audio track from your DVD, or your DVD doesn't have 5.1 audio at all.
What does eac3to show if you run it against your ripped vob files?

yeh the dvd definately has 5.1 audio. When i copy the dvd to my computer how do i make sure im extracting the 5.1 audio instead of 2.0?

just tried to do it using the ripped vob files and it works fine so i must be doing something wrong when i convert them into the single .ac3 file
at least ive got it working now tho

Dvd Decrypter has an option to just extract audio, and if it comes in 5.1 it will get it to you in .ac3 format. you can use besweet to demux the ac3 file into 6 separate wavs.
