Are you using an internal drive?

The PS3 is a little picky... all you can do is play with the settings and find something that works with the SAP and the PS3. I'd recommend staying pretty close to the default settings.

when i first used bd rebuilder, all settings were left alone, burned a bd rom and it wouldnt work on stp at all. So changed audio settings to hd audio and it worked or so i thought, played on stp but not on ps3! Burned same film in avchd and all is fine? Why is burning a bd-rom with no compresion any different?

You need to understand that not all Blu-Ray players work the same. What works on one brand/model may not work on another brand/model...or even a different model under the same brand, or even from one firmware revision to the next...on the same player! It will drive you nuts, if you let it. The best thing to do is find what common settings work with all your different players.

That's just how it is for the time being... accept it and you'll not get so frustrated.

There were many reports about this problem (error 80029941) after firmware update 2.42. Are you sure you're using the latest 3.00?

Possible reasons for your troubles:

1) The laser is worn out and you need a replacement
2) You recorded the disc, using higher speed (stick to 1x)
3) You need the latest PS3 firmware
4) If you used BD-RE disc, try to burn a BD-R
5) You switched to another brand of BD-R (a cheaper may be?) :)

Try the original BD disc and see if it will load properly. This error may indicate a physical disc error (the inability of the console to read the actual data).

For many reasons, I can't recommend the 3.0/3.1 firmware update for the PS3, but it should at least be the 2.8 firmware update.

I didn't notice that there is 3.01... still I have no problems with fw 3.00 if it is his problem at all :) (my console never asked for updating to 3.01 since september 15th... weird - i'm updating now to 3.01)

There have lots of reported issues associated with streaming movies to the PS3, with firmware3.x. Since I do alot of this, I've been staying away. I just bought a PS3 Slim, so I guess I'll find out if the problems are real, as soon as I get around to taking the Slim out of the box. :)

I hadn't heard of any problems regarding playback of movies...but one thing seems to lead to another, in my experience.

I haven't noticed any streaming problems with WMP or Azureus/Vuze (using wireless connection to stream from my laptop) or my webserver (using wired lan)... I rarely use streaming so may be you're right and there are problems. I prefer using an external HDD and play all my HD videos in AVCHD from the external HDD and the regular SD avi files converted to DivX with AviAddXsubs.

WMP??? You do enjoy living on the dark side, don't you? :D If you're just sharing movies with another PC, then streaming is unnecessary. If you want to watch all your movies on your TV, from a central server, instead of getting your butt up to change the discs, then streaming is important.

Well WMP just shows in the XMB... not that I use it :)

And streaming may be good for the english-speaking part of the world, but since I need subtitles sometimes I prefer to use my external HDD... And I created a small script for my apache2 server so I browse my folders and watch the videos without using any special software + I get thumnbails and buttons to add/remove subtitles on the fly :) (using .divx container).

And while still OFF the topic, will there be someone willing to test a small tool (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1329089#post1329089) to extract textST subtitles from m2ts, which I wrote earlier today? Since tsMuxeR is unable to demux/mux text subtitle format (textST) I'm trying to extract such streams to .srt, but I have no files to test with :(

I agree... Subtitles are a real pain for streaming. I just don't bother with the few movies I have that require it... Rendition, Syriana, Hidalgo, and a handful of others. I just play those movies from disc. It must be difficult for the non-english speaking parts of the world, who also like Hollywood movies.

You obviously have no problem with english... :)

Yep, but sometimes I need to keep the volume soft and I can't quite understand all this english mambo-jumbo ;) so I use either english or bulgarian subtitles.

okay... that is the last off-topic message :) sorry.

1. firmware is 3.5
2. ill use 1x instead of 2/4
3. first disc was an BD-R
4. 2nd disc was an BD-RW
5. Original Blu-rays work fine so not the laser?

deank

Well you can't compare laser performance with BD-ROM and BD-R/RE. Post back if you have any success with slower writing speeds.

my writer will only write @ 2x with the bd-roms/rw i have.
p.s. i have "gone in 60 seconds" bd rip @ 32.5gb bd reduilder shrinks it down to 20.2gb and works ok in SAP no prob?
but it i get the core video file's and use tsmuxer to take out all the junk and leave just the vid and audio i want put back in the BDMV folder and put both BDMV + cert files in express burn and write iso then use daemon tools to test iso the start of the disc plays ok then when it gets to play the film is hangs? yet it to is 20.2gb and all the files look the same?

It is really hard to understand what you are saying.

When you have problems like yours, try not do take so many steps (like muxing, demuxing, copying files here and there) - it won't help you find the solution.

If you were doing such things and your PS3 reported 'bad disc' - then it is your fault and I don't know if Daemon tools is the best way to test the output, or even more - if you use power dvd.

1) It is a violation of the rules
