I used to be able capture what I was playing in WMP using FRAPS, but I can't seem to anymore. Nothing happens when I press F9. I thought it was Vista, I did find that I can capture from some other players. I keep seeing where people say to disable Use Overlay, but I can't find this setting. Does it exist in version 11. When I go to Tools\Options\Performance, there is no advanced button, so consequently there aren't any video acceleration settings. Or am I just looking in the wrong place?
Thanks

Well, I think whether FRAPS can capture from WMP or not depends on whether it can hook the video renderer in use.
Probably under Windows Vista and later the WMP will use the EVR (Enhanced Video Renderer) instead of the VMR9 (Video Mixing Renderer 9), which may be the reason why FRAPS doesn't hook the renderer.
After all FRAPS is intended to capture 3D applications (e.g. games), not the output video players. So if FRAPS ever hooks a video renderer, I assume this happens more by mistake than intentionally ;)
Last but not least it may be part of Microsoft's DRM (Digital Rights Management) strategy to prevent the capturing of video renderer outputs, so you can't "steal" the raw output of "protected" content.
But the most important question: Why do you want to capture from WMP at all? Why you cannot process the source file directly instead of going the FRAPS way?
