Hi everyone. I'm helping someone put together an HTPC out of some various old parts (Athlon X2, 2GB, nForce 4 chipset) and a new GPU (HD 4550) and it works quite well - except when we try and use DXVA. We end up with serious corruption issues in a lot of MKV-encapsulated H.264-encoded content. Blu-ray discs play perfectly fine.
We've tried this on both Windows 7 and Vista, x64-versions both, and with the latest Catalyst 9.9 drivers. We tried with the release and SVN builds of MPC-HC and with Divx's beta MKV filter for Media Foundation. This corruption only appears when using DXVA; software decoding works fine but that machine doesn't quite have enough power for software decoding. We also tested the videos on a desktop machine (Q9550, 8GB, P45 chipset, HD 4870) and they played flawlessly.
I've also tried GraphStudio using both the MPC-HC filter and Microsoft's H.264 decoder. Both gave corruption.
Any suggestions on what to do besides buying a new GPU?
