SVideo: I get a greyscale image - a pin got broken?

Hello (time and time again) to the best website on the www...
I hope you're doing well...

as you can see from the title, I need your kind and gracious help with a new problem I encounterd only 30 minutes ago.

I have 2 computers.
I wanted to tranfer my analog TV Capture Card (Conexant based, hardware mpeg2 encoder) from one PC to the other so I removed it very carefully from the case. I then placed the card on a cardboard surface.

after I reconnected it to the same computer, I now get a greyscale image. :(

I inspected the svideo cable and saw that one of the pins has moved very very slightly. I don't know how to move it back...
I tried several times to connect and re-connect the svideo cable to the card and nothing helped... :\

can I assume that something with the card or the svideo cable got screwed up somehow in the process? a cardboard surface is really a destructive surface for this kind of elctric equipment (if this is a rhetorical question, please ignore it (I'm very tired by now)?

I would not want to buy another equipment (very short on the money this month...).

Yes, it sounds like the cable is the problem (hopefully that and not the physical connector on the card). Those cables are notorious for breaking.

A S-video cable has 2 pairs of wires, one for luma one for chroma. Get another cable if the one you have is broken or beyond any reparations.

I inspected the cable again, and then took the card out of the "problematic" PC and connected it to the new computer.
before I did that, I forgot one thing: maybe the source is faulty. . . ;)
I entered the STB menu and saw that it was set on "PAL" (Composite). I changed it back to "SVHS" and light once again re-entered my life... :)

thank you for enlighten me about the cable operabillity. if and when a similar problem occurs, I'll know what to do.... :)
