View Full Version : M2TS remux problem (with tsremux)

I have an .M2TS file (192 B packet size) that I am forced to convert it to a .TS file (188 B).
I can watch the .M2TS file without no visual problems in both VLC and SMPlayer (well, VLC crashes from time to time, so SMplayer when I try taking snapshots).
However I encountered a nasty problem when converting the file with tsRemux (that one without the GUI), version 0212.
See the first attachment: that's what I got. Even more strange is that at home I have that band of a constant width (height?) while on another computer I had it as you see it, with a variable width (height). The band stays in the same place.
See the second attachment: it should look like this.
The file comes from my Humax where it played perfectly. This problem begins with the very first frame and propagates through the whole file.
It should be an MPEG video stream and an MP2 audio one (TXT and so on).
Running the .M2TS file on tsmuxergui was ok, no problems at all.

Any ideas?

Your attachment order is reversed.

tsRemux is broken.

tsRemux is broken.

Thank you for the quick answer.
I performed the corrections in text (as I don't know how to reverse the attachments order).

I am not a native English speaker, to me "tsRemux is broken" sounds like a generic statement. You wanted to say that this version (or all versions) of tsremux is broken or only my copy is affected (download failure, HDD error, memory eror etc.)?

I know I could download myself tsremux again and test it, however during the week I have access only to the internet PC and during WE only to video PC. That's my question for, I'm not that lazy :)

I mean that in the course of supporting my tools I have received at least three streams created by tsremux that were ruined in one way or another. I don't know which versions are affected and I don't know what specific scenarios cause issues. I just know that the bad streams were created by tsremux.

If you can upload links to corresponding pieces of the transport streams before and after tsremux (that do and do not show the artifact), I could at least identify with a binary editor what is going wrong with the stream. That may be useful to provide to the tsremux authors.

Sorry, due to space issues, these HDTV/SDTV are really huge, I was forced to delete them from my HDD. But I solved my problem using the GUIed version of tsmuxer. I'll keep this in mind for the next time.

Ive got the P50HDM and have no problems with the HD Tivo. I used to have the 42" Vizio and DID have the HDMI problem with that unit, thankfully the 50" works just fine.

It was not a hardware problem, but a software one.
