I was just wondering if it was possible to do this in Avisynth, perhaps using Srestore or something similar?

If it was linearly blended, you can try using the "double blend removal" in SRestore (mode="ppX"). It does not work very well. Not very well at all.

Also try the predecessor "FixBlendIVTC" (the stand-alone function, before it was integrated into SRestore). I've not used SRestore for blended-telecine stuff yet, but FixBlendIVTC had given me quite OK results in the past.
