Hi guys, i just bought these dvd's and i try to clean them but the source is horible
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0VBVBU72

i try to clean it, remove de dotcrawl and rainbows but nothing work fine for me. + the video cleaning and sharping seems like it's ruining everything. I would like that yelow colors of the ducks to be more white. Could someone write a good script to make all of these and drasticaly imprive the quality? Thanks in advance.

That's a tough one. I've actually seen the masters for this, and it's been brutalized at some point during the capture process...

Most likely there was a composite video connection somewhere during the digitizing process, and this has introduced the dot crawl / rainbowing.

Then... the inverse telecine was performed, without fixing said problems :(

AFAIK, that means you're probably hosed as far as thoroughly cleaning this source, as fixing dot crawl and rainbowing really needs all of the fields to be effective.

I'm playing with some filters right now...

You mean there's a remastered version of ducktales? if yes can i buy it somewhere?

Okay, so it's not quite as bad as I remember my masters being!!

Here's what I've come up with:

MPEG2Source("C:\doom9\egrimisu\VTS_01_1_cut.d2v", cpu=0)

#First, let's do what we can to kill the dot crawl
Checkmate()

#Now let's crop off the crud on the borders... grr..
Crop(16, 8, -16, -8)

#And now let's let things soak in a bowl of molar sulfuric acid :)
FFT3DGPU(plane=4, sigma=2.5, sigma2=3.5, sigma3=4, sigma4=2)

#Looks better, now let's do some line darkening etc...
Toon()

#And finally dither away any ugly banding
GradFunkMirror(1.51)

I think the whites are fairly on-point. They don't look too yellow-ish to me.

Also, the masters I refer to aren't remastered at all :) They were ~15mbps MPEG-2 transcodes from a Beta SP tape from the studio, if I recall correctly. Your source isn't that bad! At least it's mostly clean 24p, though I do see some strange deinterlacing artifacts. Whatever IVTC they put it through didn't do a perfect job hehe...

Checkamte didn't do a very good job + fft ruins the some details. toon did a fine job :) . On the later episodes i need to use derainbow to clean the rainbows. Till ep ~20 there are no rainbbows.
