Encoding a weird blended/interlaced source (PAL-to-NTSC)?

Good evening, dear friends!

From the range of weird sources that I comes across, I am "proud" to present another one. The sample provided below comes from a DVD featuring amateur short movies. I can safely assume they were converted from PAL sources, having originated from Europe.

Up to this one, I was able to use srestore to get them back to 25fps without any problems (with the exception of some ghosting frames - here and there). While most came with a 5 interlaced frames / 1 progressive frame pattern, this one comes with with a 4 interlaced frames / 1 progressive frame pattern - anything I attempted (combinations of TDeint as a bobber & the latest srestore) turned out like hell (ghosting on several frames + blends in zone with heavy colour).

Taking a close look at the source, I saw both frame & chroma blending. Here's the sample!

Any advice for a proper encode would be highly appreciated. Thank you!

Assume no such thing. This one is from an NTSC source and:
...this one comes with with a 4 interlaced frames / 1 progressive frame pattern
that's your clue (or one of them, anyway).

Yadif(Mode=1,Order=1)#or your favorite Smart Bobber
SRestore(Frate=23.976)

I don't think you'll be able to get rid of the chroma ghosting as there's just too much of it.

Thanks, manono! Will take your sugestion.

The next shorts on the DVD get even worse, each with a particular flavour - 29.97 progressive with irregular patterns on where the ghost frames will be OR 4 interlaced frames / 2 progressive etc. I read all the topics regarding this subject, and tryied allmost every sugestion in them but no good. Ghosting won't go away.

6 frame cycles are indicative of a PAL source but, as usual, nothing beats samples. Sometimes there's just no way to get rid of all the ghosting, though, especially if they've been double-blended.

And if you've really got a progressive 29.97fps source, and unless the pattern is 3 'clean', 2 blended, in every 5 frame cycle, you can forget about unblending it. It's been deinterlaced on top of everything else.

So it is. I apologize. But stop using Rapidshare. First you have to wait a minute just to begin the download and then it downloads at a glacial pace. MediaFire is so much better.

Nothing can be done with that one. It was blended and then deinterlaced. It's a godawful mess. Sorry. Maybe someone else will have something more encouraging to say about it.
