Hi

I've been using eac3to to make a few blu-ray mkv's with great effect.

I'm a little confused after reading about the differences between the audio types.

I've just made a film with FLAC as the audio stream and playing it through media center, the movie sounds quiet compared to other movies.

The original audio stream is DTS Master audio. Another movie has TrueHD/AC3.

The question I have is should I extract the audio streams as they are i.e. DTS to DTS, THD to THD etc or is FLAC the best audio to extract?

Thanks!!

When using the lossless audio tracks, convert each track to FLAC. Better compatability and compression. The reason the sound might appear quiet is because of improper downmixing.

Thanks for that. Any idea how to rectify improper downmixing?

Use a decoder such as ffdshow then set the Mixer to output 2.0 channels.

Hi, thanks!! That worked for loudness but I'm not getting the 5.1 surround effects now. Am I doing something wrong?
