Pardon me, first off, if this is in the wrong spot. My roommates and I are looking for some methods to capture video on our devices.
The immediate PC solution (capturing gaming, sorry for not saying sooner) is using the FRAPS software. It doesn't compress on the fly and frankly, uses too many resources. A simple alternative solution would be awesome (looking into Camtasia and WeGame right now). The hard drive limitations aren't an issue, but at things like 2GB a minute, its a bit absurd to capture high res. I can do the rest in Gordian Knot, so compressing afterwards won't be an issue.
Next is the console gaming. Both our 360 and PS3 are on HDMI and the TV has no video output, so without buying a DVR or a Radeon AIW HD series, what other alternatives are there?
I'm not against using a somewhat lower-resolution source, but I'd rather not go composite and run it through a VCR. I'm open to any suggestions, but am hoping you guys have some suggestions that aren't going to go the DVR or Radeon HD card route.
