Hello, People!

I am working for a software developing company where we put together a 24/7 video recording systems (HW and SW). Parts of the video output is burned out to DVD, to be physically delivered to a client which are then doing further investigating of the video footage. The DVD is put together with a simple menu with an item for each clip.
As we are getting into recording in HD format, we need more storage space, and are wanting to go to Blu-Ray Discs instead of DVDs.
To make it more convienient for the client to handle the Blu-Ray discs, we want the format to be compatible with standard Blu-Ray players.
Usually, only a single copy of a DVD or BD is made of each project, and we are not looking at a mass production.

In order to start producing Blu-Ray discs, we are looking for one of the following, and I was hoping some of you fellows on this forum might have a good suggestion:

a) A programming interface (i.e. API) to be able to burn the necessary files to a BD, with a simple menu system so that viewer can click on events in a list, where each event is linked its own video clip.

OR

b) A standard Authoring/burning program which can be scripted, so that we can build the script file and load it into the program, which then in turn burns the BD.

After weeks of searching on the internet I haven't found a single usable programming/scriptable interface...

All I've come across is that the BDA requires quite the sum of money to share the specifications required for developing a software as mentioned.

I'd sure appreciate if anyone knows of a decent API or software with scripting support which you would recommend for our purpose!

(If you feel like sending me a humongous email with advertisement and fancy manuals and pictures not suitable for the forum here, likely rather use my email; ingvart at options dot no.)

To all the ones contributing to this forum:
:thanks:

Ingvar

(PS: Yes, if you did come accross a similar post on a different forum, I did allow myself to post somewhere else too as I have had very little success so far... If I get a good answer elsewhere, I'll try to post it here to everyone's help and amusement)

About SDK, there are:

Corel/Ulead PureHD SDK (used by NetBlender and Canvass)
Sony BD Muxer SDK (used on Sony's BluPrint and Sonic's Scenarist BD)

About API and scripting, you can ask NetBlender. They can help you (but price...)

Why dont you guys start up a programm tio develop such an application. We shure could use it too. Just develop it Open Source; Think of it in te same idea as what Avail Media does with x264 (DS works for them i believe).

You want to develop Java based applications for Blu-ray? Kaleidoscope is a tool used on a lot of studio releases (I don't know the costs involved in using it though):

http://www.sofatronic.com/

It's scriptable, and has little 'plug-ins' for doing basic stuff like the main menu functionality, scene selection pages with rotating thumbnails, etc. And, you can write your own plug-ins for it...
