DVD Ripping Problem

I've got an issue ripping a DVD that I created.

What I'm doing is converting a bunch of my old VHS tapes (home movies) to DVD. I wanted to make copy of one for a family member.

I'm using a LiteOn DVD-R/VHS combo machine to make them. So far it has worked quite well.

I first attempted to just copy the DVD (using Nero and Ashampoo). Both failed.

I then tried to create an ISO. Then I tried to rip it.

So far nothing has worked. The DVD plays in the 4 different DVD players I've got. It plays in VLC and a couple of other players I've tried on my PCs.

But when using MagicDVDRipper or DVDFab Decryptor - they just sit there "analyzing" for literally hours.

I'm going through my case and checking other as well to see if this problem is common. So far out of about 50 dvd's, 7 seem to give me the same problem.

Any ideas or suggestions on what I could try next? I can get the tape back out and just re-copy it (it's analog so that runs in real time - about 6 hours). Could it be because in many cases I've recorded more than the 2(ish) hours of video on a DVD?

copy the video-ts folder from your dvd media to hard drive.
if you can copy the folder, means that all is ok and you can burn.
open Nero or any other, chose "DVD-Video" and burn the video-ts folder.

And if you can't copy them, then it's the perfect time to use a recovery software, like isobuster, izopuzzle any other commercial software.

There is another cause you can't have a DVd copy. Almost every DVD Recorder has its own recording type, which is recognized by standalones, but not by software. In this case try a software that understands this modus, like TMPGenc DVD Author or similar. Trial versions are mostly ok.

May be you can try to convert to other playable file format then only burn into the DvD.
