'elp - I need an Mpeg2 to Mpeg2 encoder

I need to re-encode some Mpeg2 files, and force a re-encode.
not just patch the file.

I need the following spec. ( freeware and download )

be able to set the encode to 720 x 576 and set the bit rate.
and set either VBR or CBR, and GOP length.

I can set the AR after.

I need to add black boaders to res 704 x 576, and strech 544 x 576

An idiot prof GUI is prefered - but willing to consider anything.
(sounds like dateing, suppose it is :) )

have tried many progs and they all seem not to do what I want, esp with VBR files that I have.

something like Avidemux 2.5 - ( will not do mpeg encoding it crashes on "my" machine - looked into it, we dont know why? :( )

TMPGenc will do it for you, almost automatically if you choose the right profile ;)

just check again using TMPGEnc-2.525.64.184-EN.zip.

Told it to do a 1500Kbs vid, GOP 8, on a VBR file variable GOP, it stream copied.

when I tried to use the wizard, it wold not open the mpg file, told me it not a valid file :)

Are you 100% sure it's a MPG file? From your posts I'm pretty sure you have a DVB file, which is not the same thing as a MPEG file, at least not for TMPGenc.

I never ever had any problems with TMPGenc, but you could frame-serve it if you like.

The original source is a DVBt (V+A)- patched to a PS stream (PVAStrumento) and cut with Avidemux 2.5 ( stream copy )
, the file opens ok in the manual mode.

er.. dont know how to frame serve.

Post a sample of your source stream.
