MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 Transcoder?

Is there such thing as a MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 Transcoder? instead of an Encoder, which takes a bloody long time.

is there such thing, to simply take a raw AVC file and transcode it to another AVC file but the settings and values will be different but its purpose to make it compatible with a particular device, very much like the presets in MeGUI, for example, a x264 HD-DVD to a x264 PS3-Xbox360?

Nothing more than flaggers (if your stream si compatible but the level used in him say it's not) But if you don't have a compatible stream, you need to encode it completely.

ohh man, that sucks, i was encoding using MeGUI which took 21 hours for a 2h30min film! :( which is around 2.83fps of encoding

Yes there is perfect way! Buy Quad-core and overclock it to at least 3Ghz and use 1280x.... resolution instead of 1920x.... and use single pass with CRF22. Period!

well im on Dual Core, not yet being overclocked or lapped, and i very much like having 1080p thanks very much :D

i mean surely, it feels like MeGUI doesnt take advantage of Dual Core CPUs on a 64bit OS.

Try to use faster settings and it will be faster, or use the rights settings the first time

not quite sure wat u meant there.

i used the HDDVD preset on x264 in MeGUI, the first pass was alright but when it got to the encoding pass, it was slow as hell :( this s why i asked if there is such thing as a transcoder?

Why not use x264 on faster settings before complaining about speed?

What about UncropMKV? i think that UncropMKV use fast but quality setting, output is always simmilar to original if you use same bitrate ofcourse.

You'd lose a lot more quality with a transcoder than you would with a faster setting in X264 and a reencode. Look at the output of all the MPEG-2 transcoders out there and you'll see that only slight reductions can result in anything close to acceptable quality -- even on the better engines and after analysis passes.
