Many AviSynth 2.5.x filters are still compatible with AviSynth 2.6, except for a few with very elaborate memory management and threading on their own, they already come with AviSynth 2.6 variants with the current programming interface.

Thx. :)
in any any any any combination of filters
using avisynth 2.6 MT
I WILL get a huge CRASH when just LOADING the .avs script on virtualdub pointing to masktools2-26
(right now I'm using smdegrain.avsi script)
but just now I tried to put masktools2-25, after 2 days of updating updating and trying trying... and it worked.
WTF is that ?!! I have a huge download folder of allll the 2.6 dlls because I always used avisynth 2.6.. and I triple-checked the dll and it IS 2.6... .. how come it will ONLY work with masktools2-25 ?!!!!!!????????
for the record: 1.860.096 avisynth.dll
on avisynth scripts folder: 1.076.224 masktools2-25.dll
Which error message exactly? Does it mention a CACHE MODE? Then you probably have an outdated version of masktools2, not anymore compatible to the current programming interface since AviSynth MT 2.6 alpha 4. We keep posting links back to the fixed version during the last months...

"out-of-bounds trying to read 0x000000" in one version of masktools2
and that "cache mode" in another versions of masktools2
(but both for avisynth 2.6, running it with MT or NOT)
can you please tell me where can I get the most stable versions of multithreaded avisynth and masktools?
The official place to get AviSynth MT is here, as you can read on the AviSynth wiki – Main page (http://avisynth.nl/index.php/Main_Page) in the "Downloads" group.
The AviSynth wiki also lists officially recommended downloads for MaskTools2 (http://avisynth.nl/index.php/MaskTools2) (currently, the b1 version by tp7).

Just verifying. Is there a 64-bit version of 2.6 MT?
Thanks.

Not from SEt. The original AviSynth 2.x development "failed" to get converted to 64-bit code due to issues with legacy code; AviSynth+ required a new base from scratch, including its own memory management, to support 32-bit and 64-bit code in its kernel and in its plugins equally.

Thanks for the info. So is AviSynth+ (http://avs-plus.net/) support multithreading? The website is fairly sparse on info.
Thanks.

For up-to-date info check out the wiki: http://avisynth.nl/index.php/AviSynth%2B
Also, the latest release from the development branch is highly recommended.

AviSynth+ has an MT development branch. Their website is not as up-to-date about it as the ^ Wiki and their thread here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1777263), though.

windows 10 1080gtx nvidia not working true..
Avisynth 2.6.1 or new MT avisyth.dll i need?
AviSynth does not care much about your graphic card.
If at all, then GPU dependent plugins, like DGDecNV.

Also, "not working true" doesn't tell us very much.

1. Installation
Install any recent official version of Avisynth.
What is considered the latest version? If I go here: http://avisynth.nl/index.php/Main_Page
The official version is AviSynth_110525. But, back in 2015, I snagged what appears to be a RC1 version (AviSynth_150114). It seems that there is also a 2.6.1 Alpha1 version available.
Which should I install?
BTW, I'm currently running 2.5.8.
Because the latest version of SEt's AviSynth MT is equivalent to 2.6.0 final, you should install AviSynth 2.6.0 final (https://sourceforge.net/projects/avisynth2/files/AviSynth%202.6/AviSynth%202.6.0/) first. This installer contains matching default plugins and documentation.
Due to the ongoing development of AviSynth+ with a different and improved multi-threading model, though, I doubt about the future of SEt's MT versions...

There are two 2.6.0 exe files there. One with the 110525 date (which I have downloaded) and one with a 150419 date.
Now you see why I am confused.

I can't install the AviSynth+ version, as the BDRebuilder program does not support it.
In the SourceForge subdirectory I linked, I see only one AviSynth_260.exe (2015-04-19).
The official version is AviSynth_110525.
That was probably before April 2015. I guess your mentioned version was a long-lasting "Release Candidate" of v2.6.0, before it got "finalized" years later?! Long ago, I don't remember.
Anyway, because you replace the avisynth.dll, the functionality will be exchanged with it. So it does not really matter that much. Except for tiny changes which might be included in additional plugins.

Above that there is the line:
"Looking for the latest version? Download AviSynth_110525.exe (5.1 MB)"

Does SourceForge show us different links? May it depend on the SourceForge mirror server preferred for our different locations, or our login state?
I get AviSynth_260.exe recommended.

In case of doubt and compatibility concerns with BD-RB just download Avisynth 2.6.0 from jdobbs' site, according to the first post in the BD-RB thread

Interesting. I'm not logged in, but it might be the location. Weird. You probably thought I was nuts and I thought you were blind, as it was right there in front of me.

Ya, there is that. Thinking about it, as I only use BDRB to author discs with MKV files that I provide, I seriously doubt that any version I install will matter.

Unless you install AVS+ when BD-RB will throw an error as soon as you launch it.

Oh, that will suck. Guess I won't. Wasn't planning on it though.

Someone can help ?which OS are you running? 32 or 64 bit? If 64 bit, that particular avisynth.dll belongs in SysWoW64, not system32.
If you still have problems, run AVSMeter -avsinfo and see if it throws any errors.

Stupid me, you were right: sys64. I noticed i get an error with the removespots.avsi script (RemoveGrainT.dll seems to be the culprit) inside the plugins directory but once removed it's just fine.
Thank you Groucho

Actually it may be fortunate that you get YV16 first; so you can decide whether to ConvertToYV12(interlaced={true|false}). It makes a serious difference in the way how chrominance is averaged.

@Mounir
You can use, or at last see the reg operations (in setavs.cmd), the Universal Avisynth Installer (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1720988#post1720988)
