Bluray questions

Lots of great info here, but I have a couple of simple questions that I haven't been able to find answers for. So, if anyone can answer, I would really appreciate it.

I still am not understanding a lot of what I'm reading about Bluray's. I'm used to dealing with DVD's so please excuse my ignorance.

1. With a DVD when I rip it, I get VOB, IFO and BUP files (of which I typically only need the VOB's). When you rip a Bluray disc - what kind of files do you end up with?

2. When I rip a BR disc, how much space should I expect it to take up?

1. Typical BD structure:

BDMV/BACKUP/ <-- backups of everything except STREAM
BDMV/CLIPINF/*.clpi
BDMV/PLAYLIST/*.mpls
BDMV/STREAM/*.m2ts <-- your movie
BDMV/index.bdmv
BDMV/MovieObject.bdmv
CERTIFICATE/BACKUP/id.bdmv
CERTIFICATE/id.bdmv

2. No more than 50GB. Usually ~30GB.

ahh, ok - so the m2ts reference that i've been seeing is from the BR disc itself!

That certainly makes some things clearer.

(Sorry, literally just got a BR reader for my pc and haven't even acquired a BR disc yet.)
