Hi all,

I would like to restore an old video tape with lots of tape tear (not sure how this artifact is called :) - it's like rain but on the horizontal axis).

Please see below attached screengrab and let me know if you know anything in existence that can help me.

Many thanks in advance!

Its called "Tape head drop out" This was a major problem with a brand like "Fischer" some 25 years ago.

More accurately it is head clog. The heads are contaminated with dirt, usually particles of oxide from the tape. Causing poor contact between the heads and the tape. If it is happening on playback a good head clean using a "wet" system will help. Plus spooling the tape end to end a few times to dislodge anymore loose oxide.

If it happened during record then you are stuffed! Some of the degrain filters will improve this considerably...
