H265/NGVC (ITU) and HVC (MPEG)

I just scroll Wikipedia and found some information on next-gen codec's. The future looks very interesting just hope that they will join and make a really good move as they do with H262/MPEG2 and H264/MPEG4-AVC. According to first results H265 reaches up to 50% efficiency of the H264

H.265 doesn't exist. What exists is a bunch of ideas being thrown around at VCEG meetings and a hacked-together research software suite.

"50%" only exists if you add up every single idealized benefit in every paper submitted so far and assume that none could possibly be incompatible with each other.

The main problem I see is that if things continue the way they're going now, H.265 is going to be an utter mess of overcomplicated ideas that is three times slower to decode.
