hy!
i can't play DTS (5.1 audio only 44k/16b) in MPClassic in win 2000.
AC3 filter is working and checked DTS option but i hear only "noises"(it's normal when DTS is not right decoded).
i like to know the adjusts to play LPCM 5.1 with 5.1 outputs too.
others formats are running perfectly, inclusive dvds with AC3 and DTS 5.1
thanks for any help.

Your dts, is a wavdts (to/from CD's because 44k), a compact dts or a padded dts?
Put a sample (first 1 MB is enough)

DTSWAV 44.1k(not compact or padded) from surcode DTS encoder sample: test_dts (http://rapidshare.com/files/261916299/test_dts.rar)
with AC3filter for winamp...just the same, only "noises".
thanks so much!

Use AC3File and disable the internal DTS source filter in MPC.

A dtswav have a fake header to deceive a CD burner, when a correct software read this header must play only noise.
The only end of a dtswav is be burned in CD. To play in PC (or mux with video) use always the dts compact (7/8 size of dtswav).
You can convert a dtswav to compact dts with BeSplit or eac3to

well, burning cd and with dvd player and DTs receiver is ok.
dts compact is the way to go to play in pc.

But, you have Ac3Filter or ffdshow installed and assigned in MPC?

yes tebasuna, i have both installed and assigned in MPC.
when i open (for example) one dvd or video_ts folder in MPC, i see the ffdshow audio decoder icon next to the "clock" and using "right click" inside MPC, i can chose the ffdshow and/or AC3 filter.
selecting DTS or AC3 (5.1 48k) in dvds when open AC3 filter, the 5.1 channels working very fine.(and i can hear of course)
AC3 5.1 44.1k or 48k (audio only) works perfectly but not DTS 44.1 (audio only)

oh thanks but you can read above that i have AC3 filter installed and working in lots of situations:
dvds with AC3 and DTS,
AC3 audio only(from 2.0 to 5.1)
but don't work only with DTS 44.1 (audio only).
the same happens with Winamp(winampAC3 installed yesterday) and MPC.
a mystery. lol

Ac3File and Ac3Filter are two different filters. The first is a source filter, the other a decoder.

you're right clsid.
i have both installed, the filter and the decoder in default folders but i don't know how to configure the decoder in MPC.
when i select 'play - filters' i see AC3filter but not the AC3File.
help me more please and thanks, we are next the solution. :-)

Nevermind the AC3File filter. I thought you were talking about a .dts file instead of a .wav file.
The solution:
- Disable AC3Filter
- Enable DTS in ffdshow audio decoder
- Also set "Uncompressed" to "All supported" in ffdshow.

perfect solution clsid
now AC3 & DTS(audio only), dvds with AC3 and DTS are playing fine in MPC with ffdshow.
thanks so much, great! :thanks:
