Not sure what to make of this new warning after installing the latest release of ImgBurn 2.5.0.0.
SPTD can have a detrimental effect on drive performance.
I have never seen this one before, and wonder if there is a setting to change to avoid seeing this message, which appears when the program starts.

My tipp: Launch "regedit" and go to the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\sptd" key.

Then look for an entry called "Start" and change its value to "4" (Disabled). After reboot the warning in ImgBurn will be gone :)

Daemon Tools will stop working, of course...

I uninstalled Daemon Tools long ago and have VirtualClone Drive now. I guess daemon doesn't completely uninstall.
Thanks LoRd_MuldeR, I'll try that suggestion too.

Well, I think SPTD isn't exactly a part of Daemon Tools. It's a "low level" driver for accessing drives. Various applications may use it.

Daemon Tool builds on top of SPTD, so it will install SPTD (if not already installed). But I don't think it will uninstall SPTD, because other applications may still require SPTD.

What I suggested in my previous post is what DuplexSecure, the developers of SPTD, recommend to "uninstall" the SPTD driver on their web site.

OK understood.

Or just go to DuplexSecure site, download the SPTD installer and run it. It will will ask you if you want to upgrade or uninstall your currently installed version of SPTD.
