Which deblocker (and settings) do you use for DV sources?

A DV source is hardly "blocked". Do you mean by that pixelation? Clean the heads if pixelation occurs or use the same device for playing the tapes back (mainly for LP).

no i mean deblock squares 8x8 (jpeg compression)

no drop-out, a little pixelation, if i can say it
is not a bug, its because of jpg compression. 8x8 pixels are "averaged" using DCT all DV sources have it.

I'm not really sure of what you're talking about. DV is not JPG. Yes, it uses DCT, like another 1000 codecs around here.

Unless you post a specific image with the specific artefact you discovered, nobody can help you.

Hmmm... just a shot in the dark...

Are you by any chance using QuickTime player on Windows?

If so, DV will decode in a spectacularly bad way by default! You have to enable "high quality video" to get proper decoding.

Can you load your DV file into Media Player Classic and create a screenshot for us at least? A nice little trim would be ideal ;)

Regular DCT blocking of a DV source is quite subtle and I don’t think it’s worth a dedicated Deblock() or something like that. When you use Didée’s magical bobber (or separate MDegrain), the blocking gets even less apparent.

For DV playback I use deblocking in FFDShow.
