Extra's don't play on dvd-9

I've transferred a dvd-9 onto my HD via DVD Decrypter.
Then I unpacked the .ISO and got the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders.
But when I play these files in GomPlayer, the disc's extra's won't play, playback just stops.
I also can't hide the subtitles.

Is DVD Decrypter at fault here?

I didn't touch any of the settings.
And if Movie Only was chosen, how come the file size is 6.6Gb?

The obvious reason for a DVD9 is that the main movie is over the size of a DVD5. Do you think the studious wouldn't go for the cheaper DVD5 if they could?

Another possibility case,
DVDDecrepter replaces some cells for dummy.
I experienced in commercial DVD "Robots".
Replaced cells was jumped by BOV.

If so it can be confirmed by "debug mode" of DVDDecrypter.
Log shows like below.

The extra's are indeed not in the VIDEO_TS folder. I played every .VOB file with a certain size and all I see is parts of the main movie.
Some .VOB files are clips that are only +/- 2 minutes long.

It seems DvdDecrypter can't extract the extra's.
I'm trying DvdShrink now.

DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 - the most versatile ripper out there. (note: doesn't work on many newer titles that use structural protection but it's still an excellent burner and ISO ripper for unprotected discs)


So that's probably the reason.
It helps to read the guides ... :)
After DvdShrink is done, I'll try SmartRipper.

At first, from what you say, I think there remains possibility of "movie-only" as setarip_old says.
"didn't touch any of the settings" and "the file size is 6.6Gb" doesn't mean not "movie-only".
I think you should select "full-disc" intentionally.
It will be confirmed by all files are blue in DVDDecrypter's window for example.

And your log means only possibility but not always replacing dummy.

If "full-disc" and no read-error, eaxtras will not to be replaced by changing setting.
Check off "General - Check for structure protection"

I think "newer structural protection" which guide says would mean ARccOS or RipGuard.
DVDShrink and SmartRipper stop to developmant before DVDDecrypter.
Do you kow help of DVDShrink says "The most common problem is read errors or copy protection errors with a certain DVD. In this case, using DVD Decrypter usually solves the problem."

But DVDShrink and SmartRipper may be effective, if not new protection.

I still can't see where you can select Movie Only in DvdDecrypter ...
Anyway, both DvdShrink and SmartRipper work, so I'll stick with the latter.

If you're having difficulties with any of the latest protections use DVDFab HD Decrypter instead as it is still constantly updated.

Extras are almost of no value at all on most DVDs I have. The BD-live offer is a close approximation.

I did once an experiment. I made a DVD5 of trailers (yes, I gathered and authored 99 trailers, I have at least 10x more DVDs) and put it on torrents. The extras-lovers, the trailers-lovers, not a single one downloaded it. Not a single one. But they want ot have extras on the DVD, and they are ready to pay double for a "Collector item".

Coming back to your problem, I think it's a configuration error, nothing else. It would be incredible that the studios would protect the extras while leaving the main movie "ripable". So double check the options in DVD decrypter (I don't even remember when I used it for the last time, I use WinDVD/PowerDVD and DVD shrink, sometimes SmartRipper).

That was on "All" the whole time.

I like extra's with movies I like a lot, so losing them is no option.
Have you seen the extra's on the latest Alien movies dvd box?!

It seems to rip full-disc.
Checking off "Remove IFO Strucrure Protection" in this figure is one of method, if the problem is same as my post #5.
Introduced DVDShrink and SmartRipper may be, too. (if not new protection.)
Introduced DVDFabHDDDecrypter may be, too. (even if new protection.)

The real fans don't want to DL some trailer crap from low speed torrents, they'll buy the discs instead.

And trailers are often on Youtube. The real extra's aren't. I don't really consider a trailer as an extra personally. Those would be documentaries or interviews with cast or director etc.

PS: I don't care about extra's much myself, but they are usually just there on a DVD when you buy it. As long as the feature film is good quality that's OK.

As to the OT: I think DVDFab is free and rips anything with the latest protections. Try it.

I just noticed this line - how did you unpack them? You can play the .ISO directly with several media players, or mount it in a virtual drive and view it as if it were a physical disk in a physical drive. If you're resistant to using anything besides DVD Dcrrypter, let's first confirm if there was even a problem ripping.

And if Movie Only was chosen, how come the file size is 6.6Gb?
It's not uncommon for a 2-hour movie to be that size in a .VOB file.
