View Full Version : MeGUI: Can't use previews anymore

I would report this to the bug tracker, but sourceforge decided to lock my account for some unknown reason. I havn't gotten any explanations from them.

Now, this was broken after 3.1.1028. I had stopped updating MeGUI because more items were being broken then being fixed. But after some other components were updated, it caused a lot more problems forcing me to finally have to update the core program.

Anyways, here's the problem.

Any h.264 or VC-1 HD movies which are contained in a .MKV container no longer respond properly inside preview windows. After initial loading into a preview window, ie like AVS cutter. Trying to move the image to find points in the video get no responce, it simply stays at the initial loaded image.

However, if you load the video and hit the play button and then stop the video, it then allows you to scroll to other parts of the video, except it eventually errors out, and I lose preview altogether.

I have also tried plugging in h.264 streams used with DGavs and still get errors.

Essentially, I can no longer setup any any cuts, zones, or any other function which uses the preview to help locate the parts of the video.

I have really liked MeGUI. But if it stays with this trend, I may have to start looking elsewhere for my video needs.

something is broken in your decoding filters chain...

I don't think so.

It is only a problem after I update from 3.1.1028, and only if I update the core program. Before updating, everything works great and I can do everything I need to do without problems.

The thing is, I am using:
multiple video stream types - VC1, h264
multiple containers - mkv, m2ts
even indexing - DGavcindex
multiple decoders - FFDshow, CoreAVC

And this occurs before I even apply any filters into the avs script.

All of which end in the same result. Previews fail to work.

Edit: oh and I have made sure I have the latest avisynth

cannot reproduce on XP/Vista/Seven 32 bits from my part...

Unfortunately, I was able to reproduced it on my second machine (laptop).

My two machines:
Desktop - i7 920 @ 4.1ghz, 6GB RAM, Vista Ultimate 64bit

Laptop - P7350 @ stock, 4GB RAM, Vista Home Premium 64bit

Other then running 64bit and more memory, is there any other differences that could be responsible?

Is there a directory somewhere, where I could download the betas since 3.1.1028 and see exactly which version where this problem starts?

Edit: I'll get a sample up for people to download and hopefully see if it's reproduceable on other peoples systems.

Ok, I have a test video up on my server. I've tried this video on both systems with identical results.

Here (http://www.hotpocketdeath.org/tmp/T1_Video%20-%20.mkv)

When loaded into a preview window, trying to move the scroll bar towards the begining of the video yeilds no change in the image shown. Moving the scroll bar towards the end of the video from load position seems to work though.

Reviving to update.

This issue is still present.

I have updated my laptop and desktop to Windows7 Professional 64bit and have confirmed this issue is still present on both machines.

One of the machines was less then a day old install with bare minimum programs installed.

IMO this issues is most certainly reproducible since I have been able to reproduce it on 6 machines now at this point.
