MY PC crashed during an encoding...

I'm doing a x264 encoding with MeGUI, just after the first pass completed my PC crashed. Upon startup, I noticed in the MeGUI Queue screen the first pass is still "Done", and the second is "Waiting".

If I resume (starting with the 2nd pass) will the encoding finish as it usually would, or should I start the first pass over again?

I always advice to check CPU stabilty. Use IntelBurn Test or Prime 95. Also check memory with memtest86

Open the stats file with a text editor. If out=<source frames> - 1 on the last line it should be safe to go onto the second pass, otherwise it won't be.

Install Everest, it can measure various temperatures, cpu, motherboard, it can display them in the taskbar and in Vista's sidebar. Monitor the temps, most likely it's overheating the cpu.
