I have copied my families ancient VHS tapes to DVDs & the computer, but one of them has a horribly bad "Buzz" that drowns out most of the intended audio.

I want to clean it up, but I'm completely clueless with audio filters & software. Can anyone make a software/technique suggestion to help me out with it? I would prefer to not demux it from the video if that is possible.

Thanks

I only use Adobe Audition's Noise Removal feature, which is really good, but I think audacity (free) has one too.
And you're gonna have to demux the audio no matter because even if you load it into a video editor like Premiere or Vegas, the video+audio will have to exported in the end.
If it's an avi you can demux the audio with AvimuxGUI or VirtualDub

Is it the noise present on the tape?
The "buzz" noise is usually generated by the ground loop. If so then try breaking the loop by removing the plug slightly until the ground is broken but the core still makes contact. Or use one of the ground breakers (about 20-30€ for stereo).
