Arcsoft's SimHD looks amazing for upsampling SD to HD..

It looks like it uses a combination of edge directed resampling and deconvolution (refocus), but I'm just guessing..

Anybody wants to give it a shot in avisynth ?

78mb trial download with their player too much for you too ? A plugin would be better.

I have tried it. dosen't work on mkv, avi files. it only works for dvd and BD

LSF gives far better results...this is basically a rehash from the MPC sharpening PS scripts, their screenshots are as fake as can be :rolleyes:

Supposedly the filter is not just a sharpener (although that is a large part of it).

But I agree. Give me nnedi2 + LSFmod and I'll kick any proprietary plugin's royal fanny.

dismiss everything else at the first sight,
There are many screencaps on the web, not just
from arcsoft, are they faking it too?

My Hardware (win98) does not allow me to run SimHD,
so I would like to see a side-by-side comparision
of arcsoft's SimHD and your (nnedi2 + LSF) results.

Anyone ? thanks..

It's possible, yes. That screen cap is of a (I believe) Japanese trade show running a setup designed by Arcsoft to act as a table display. Meaning: It's been tweaked to look as good as it can to potential customers.

Now, if you were to buy that plugin, and show me the difference on your own PC, then it might be onto something.

I can have the images up tonight. I have this software. Just need the right source. I'm moving so, don't have any DVD's with me. Don't think the plugin works with any files other than Discs ? Anyone confirm ?

well, mister, show us some -real life- examples you can dish out on YOUR own system....show us the light, I beg you :p

come on, you can a play a DVD on your system :rolleyes:

I've tried SimHD on some THX DVD's, and the results looked exactly like MPC's PS sharpening scripts...the magic didn't happen.

it's like that All2HD from WinDVD9, or that "eagle eye vision" in PDVD that simply pushes the colors saturation to death....these are ugly hacks to make newbies happy.

what is not acceptable is these fake screenshots! they looks army-grade, and what you actually get is some low quality halo fest :rolleyes:
