My average encoding time with DVD Rebuilder Pro, movie only, HEnc mode(left the default settings as is) is 240 minutes. Is this normal for DVD Rebuilder? I am not comfortable messing around with the settings. My computer is HP Pavilion dv400,has 1 gig of ram and Intel Pentium Processor 1.73 GHz.
Any advice to reduce processing time is greatly appreciated.

ith such a configuration is normal. Use encoder CCE SP2 and time to work encoding very good. You will improve the working conditions you had to replace hardware.

Have you're working folder and your destination folder on two separate hard drives if possible, that way the hard drive isn't having to thrash between different areas of the same hard drive to do two different operations at the same time
There isn't too much difference between CCE and HCEnc, but HCEnc runs happily in the background without annoying you with popping up a window every single time it runs and HCEnc does give better output compared to CCE on some sources, and its 100% FREE
I personally use HCEnc all the time now, and use HCEnc to scan the source first to squeeze every bit of bitrate out of the source
Using any avisynth filters will drastically increase your encoding time. Some filters and very complex functions like MCTemporalDenoise or SeeSaw will quite easily run at less than 10 FPS and will very easily increase your encode times by a factor of 10 .... I've seen DVD's take anything upto 24 hours instead of 2-3 hours
These functions drop from around 90-120FPS to less than 20FPS on my Q6600 running at 3.2ghz, and can run even slower if you run other filters as well
