What possability is there of merging DVD-RB and BD-RB as one package, or just not feasable
Is this the long term idea, or will they still operate as two seperate pieces of software
Whats the future of DVD-RB, as all efforts are concentrating on BD-RB, so has DVD-RB reached its final stages as far as it can be achieved perhaps only for minor bug fixes as and when they may appear in the future or supporting new features in the encoders like the current beta of HC 0.24

I'll continue to support it. I plan to release a new version soon. It's just that I worked on it for so long, that I've run out of feature to add. Also it has been quite a while since there has been a significant bug report (short of bad rips).

Many Thanks
I know its as stable as it can get now, short of minor updates to fix quirks with some DVDs or minor alterations for workarounds again relating to 'issues' with companies releasing badly authored DVDs as time is money or encoders that just don't play nicely, like CCE
One thing I have noticed, when doing 'game' DVDs, like Price Is Right, Deal or No Deal, Pop Quizes and so on these can cause headaches for DVD-RB, I assume down to the sheer number of VTS and menus and internal navigation depending on what button you press
I have run these through VOBBlanker before as a couple didn't work, but after 'fixing' them with VOBlanker worked, but also vice-versa. But they played via the PC ....

Of course there's still the problem with movies with LPCM audio tracks...
They take lots of space. It would be nice to have them converted to AC3.
Yes, I know I can do it by hand. But in a complex DVD things get out of hand really quickly.
And yes, I know that those are just some DVDs, and the work needed is going to be huge. Nevertheless, if you ever find the time....

Forgot about the audio issues with some DVDs
Like converting the audio to something we can actually hear without having to turn up the TV/Stereo waaay to loud just to hear anything and then have your ear drums blasted when you forget and go back to the TV
'Just' a normalize function would do it, as some DVDs really do take the mick
What about having the option to convert 2CH audio to 'pretend' surround sound, I know there are 3rd party utils that have a good try, like BeSweet
Or converting DTS to MP3/AC3 audio, or downsampling it to 5.1 or 2 CH audio
Would it be possible to use BeSweet or other 3rd party tools to process the audio as the user wishes or are we then going down the road of far too many problems would get thrown up by post-processing adding more problems than would be fixed
I suppose the 'simplest' way might be to extract the audio to say a WAV file then pass that to the 3rd party audio processor then mux that back into the video
This would, I assume, have to be done after all video processing has been completed though, or before

Unfortunately that was never the intent with DVD-RB so there is no audio reprocessing built-in. All audio is meant to be kept intact.

What - no features to add? How about redistribution with filters disabled and redistribution using the same settings (for example, max bitrate and GOP type) as the final encode? Or the ability to point out which VTSs are considered as Extras and which belong to the Feature group?

... or how about allowing the editing (blanking of unwanted content) of the VIDEO_TS.VOB in the editor?

Only a very minor niggle but any chance of making the main window re-sizable?
I was scrolling through the log window today and thinking "Why can't I just maximise this?".

How about compatibility with Japanese language Windows OS installs?

Yep, I think that would also fix the issue in which the classic skin won't show the subtitle info at all, at least not on my computer.

This. Please add support for Chinese/Japanese/non-English language Windows installs.
I'm about to install a Chinese version of Win7 once it shows up on technet... DVD-RB is a "must-have" piece of software. Unicode support would be greatly appreciated.

Any idea jdobbs when we will get to see the new version? Been so long since the last update I'm getting very excited about a new release even if there's not much to add. :D
