After stripping unwanted contents from a dvd source, my VIDEO_TS.VOB is 438 MB of blank(solid black) video without audio. Is it safe to remove this file from the VIDEO_TS folder?
Would the lack of a file with this name cause problems?

Thanks-a-bunch:)

Just blank it using VobBlanker.

How did you strip out the 'unwanted contents'? Not by just deleting them, I hope.

I used DVDFab to remove the unwanted contents. I was left with a file(VIDEO_TS.VOB) that is completely blanked out. Just wanting to know if the DVD will function properly if I delete this file. Its 400+ MB.

I'm going to try it. Who cares.!?

If you blanked out all the unecessary bits, why don't you not run a DVD Shrink upon it. It will remove all the unreferenced material still physically present (any Blanker to my knowledge just removes the references to unwanted bits).

If you're including VobBlanker in that statement, blanking with VobBlanker followed by processing it will get rid of the entire 438 MB. I've done it many times.

Hi, And Yes I am New To This So please No Killing.

I rip Using anydvd...
Now how does it work to get the unwanted content out but keeping the animated menu intact and then getting it onto a 4.7dvd?

Ok, Thank you for that tho i do not agree with some of the programs mentioned there. And i have most of them as well. Now i just need to figure out how to use them.

I used dvdFab last night and i see it looks like it blanks out the bits you do not select.

There is a "warning" it is not removing tho' that is in scene one. There is no option to remove it. But when you preview the movie in DVDFab it does not show but when you rip it to dvd it is there. I also see besides it "blanking" the unselected content it keeps the size of the movie to about 4.3gig?

If you don't care about the menus (you can reimport them later on with title writer) just copy the VTS_0x_y.VOB files to another location and run ifoedit with "create ifos". It will create the shortest _TS files ever. You may have to reassign the languages etc.

I am new at this but i know what i want and how the end result must look like. Just to get there is a learning curve. :)

Hi,

When i riP DVD Files(a Movie) With DVDFab and i Select only the Main Movoe With Animated Menu. It rips fine, No problem there.......

Where My problem is that when i go into the files of that newly ripped movie i see it "blanked" all the unselected Chapters...How do i get the unselected files(The Blanked ones) Smaller when ripping to DVD to Allow maximum Space For The Main Movie:confused:

The obvioust solution to achieve maximum quality for the main movie is to keep only the main movie ;)

Forget the extras, animated menus or any other fancy things.

But i like the animated Menus.

Is there No Way Around this?
