View Full Version : Which is the best TMPG version (less bugs, best quality) ?

There are so many versions of TMPG lying around my computer and I don't know which one I should use for best results. I use TMPG mainly for DivX -> SVCD conversion. I'm using versions below 2.0 (although I also have the newer ones) and have encountered no serious problems except some times a bit of asynch in the final video - but can't put the blame for this to a specific version.

I have read numerous posts about one version having serious bugs and another version producing better video and so on, also comments that latest versions do not work with external programs (worse audio quality?) but are more "professional" in encoding... I'm lost.

Any TMPG expert can help me out pick the best to use?
Cheers

I would say from the early versions take 1.2j: Great Picture and (for me) bugfree :)
The 2.02 version is also a winner, although it is a bit slower, don't know why...

Stay away from the latest version 2.5!! It has a lot of bugs... especially in the DirectShowReader :(
