Hi all. i had a few questions, and i hope this is the correct place for these.
Most of me bluRay encodes I have been using the DXVA HD-HQ profile.
With two changes to it.
which is the Subpixel refinement from its defaul lvl to Lv9.
And bitrate 3600-4200 (still experimenting with this)
I also resize all my 1080P sources to 1280x720 using Lanzcos resizer, and also checking the Clever Anamorphic Encode box.
I do not crop the black bars, as i wanted to keep the source as original, only at 720P.
Should I be cropping?
So my questions are:
1. Turbo Mode. turning this off really increases the encode time as you all know. Is there really much to be gained turning turbo off?
2. No fast Pskip and No DCT Decimate. im a bit confused as to how these actually affect anything. By default they are unchecked.
I have experimented by checking the Pskip box, but not sure what it actually does nor have i really noticed any significant change. Should either be used?
3. Psy-Trellis Strength. Again havent really noticed anything by changing values, but im not sure if its dependant on other settings, or what a good value would be.
4. M.E the default is 16, will this help anything by increasing the value to something like 24 or higher? If I continue to use Multi-Hex?
5. Whats the difference between Lanzcos & Lanzcos4? is there a better resizer?
6. What bitrate would be a good recommendation for 1280x720.
Im thinking from my tests around 4000. thoughts? Excessive, not enough?
