Hello.

A lot of people nowadays rip/encode BD50 to BD25. I started doing that recently myself, and found how much I miss a tool that was available for DVD's called VOBBlanker (by jsoto). The thing that strikes me the most odd is that blanking m2ts files that we don't really want (trailers, logos, etc) is not a difficult task for a skilled coder, and would prove very useful as a pre-processing step before feeding the disc to BD-Rebuilder. These are the steps required to build such a program:

1) using eac3to, read the BD structure and list all the m2ts files and their file sizes.

2) let the user select which m2ts's he would like to blank.

3) replace all the m2ts files that the user wants blanked with a pre-made 1 second long m2ts file (with no audio or subtitle streams).

4) edit the clipinf (.clpi) file to reflect the properties of the replaced file (currently doable manually using CLIPINF Editor).

5) edit playlist files that refer to the m2ts to adjust the playback length.

That's it. I'll admit that I lack the required skill to conjure something up myself, but I reckon that such a software with basic functionality would not be difficult to achieve.

Anybody up for the task?

If this was a simple task, there would be a program available already. I do not believe there is enough info on Bluray structure available for such a program at this time. BD-RB and it's author has indicated this will be incorporated within this program in the future. Based on my experience with DVD Rebuilder and BD-RB, I think this is the program with the most capabilities for such a feature, one that I am quite willing to wait for. :)

The task is easy. What's missing is the info... We have to wait
