ConvertXtoDVD and hardcoded subs

Hi!

I have a questoin about Convertxtodvd.
I have an avi file (NOT ILLEGALLY DOWNLOADED!!!!). The quality is fine, except the fact that there are sometimes hardcoded German subtitles when they speak other languages than English, ugh!
But my question is:
If you convert an avi file with hardsubs, but give convertxtodvd to use another SRT file, does Convertxtodvd overwrite the hardsubs with your own subs, or are the two subtitles going to overlap?

How did you create that AVI file? Are the German hardcoded subs present in the source (DVD, TV record) already?

Hardsubs are on the video. SRT subs will be overlaid during playback and probably won't match up where it's comfortable to read.

What was your original source material? Knowing that might help make the problem understandable.

My source material was a retail dvd with hardcoded German subtitles.

But I meant:
If I convert the avi with hardcoded German subs with Convertxtodvd AND with srt subtitles included, is Convertxtodvd going to overwrite the hardcoded subs?

No. You will just see the other subs overlayed over the burned in subs.

However, your Braille machine MAY still pick up the .SRT subtitles (since the hardcoded stuff is merely part of "picture images")...

Yes, i'll try that with my braille software. You might have a point.
