I'm an owner of a Power PC G5 iMac, with Mac OSX 10.4.11 Tiger. I do not think I will be upgrading my operating system until I actually get the next version of apple's iMac.

Handbrake 9.3 seems to have some highly desired features to its x264 encoding library such as decombing/ psychovisual rate distortion/etc, but is only workable for mac OSX Leopard.

Since I am restricted to handbrake 9.1, and am wondering if it is possible to patch handbrake through the terminal or some other appropriate manner.

Handbrake's site has a bunch of source codes in its database but I'm not sure if they're used to update/how to update.

If not, then does anybody know of the latest program for tiger that takes full advantage of the latest x264 configurations that can also read VOB files?

I tried avidemux2, and it has a lot of options (including decomb filters) but its output files are never readable-- even after adding the appropriate file tag.

Just download 0.9.3 and try to compile the CLI version.

The CLI version of handbrake 9.3 for the PPC version fails too. I'm not sure if the actual CLI download is different from compiling a CLI or not, but it reads as a bus error and logs me out of darwin.
