Can anybody tell me if when we backup our Blu Ray discs to blank BD (BD Format), can these discs become unplayable if the stand alone players add these titles to the blacklist. I see that some disc are unplayable on PowerDVD SW player because of this.
Can anybody tell me how the titles are added as blacklisted, in fact im sure all of us would be interested in this if anybody knows more about this.
Thanks.

I doubt most manufacturers would disable playback of BD-R but Sharp has managed to do it so it can be done.
Any more info on the PowerDVD blacklist?
All I've seen is some retail BD's don't have some folders (BDJO\JAR\META) that current PowerDVD 7/8/9 versions require to play otherwise it gives an incompatible disk error.

I think Sharp didn't "blacklisted" the BDRs, I think from other posts, that it simply refused to play any BDR regardless of its content (could be legitime too). That's not blacklisting in my view.

Interesting, I wonder if it just fakes the directories on the older BD's that didn't have them. Do you have PowerDVD 9 and a BD that has the issue?
