Saya is a project which aims to become a user-friendly, easily-installable cross-platform Video Editor. It's being programmed in C++, using wxWidgets (now Qt) as the GUI framework.
Why another video editor ?
The goal for our project is to make a Video Editor software with the following characteristics:
Ease of installation
Solid, extensible architecture
Support for a wide variety of file formats and codecs
Well-thought, user-friendly interface
Cross-platform compatibility (and that includes Microsoft Windows(TM)!)
According to my experience and research, current attempts at making a decent video editor for GNU/Linux systems have failed in one or more of the above-mentioned areas (as an example you can read this ubuntuforums post (http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-496330.html)). These problems are inherent to these editors' designs. In other words, it's much easier to start a project from scratch than try to fix the shortcomings in the existing GNU/Linux video editors. For more information about this decision, please read the Mission statement page. Also, you're welcome to read the Developers' Blog (http://saya-videoeditor.blogspot.com/).
Official website (http://sayavideoeditor.sourceforge.net/) (and the more updated author's blog (http://saya-dev.blogspot.com/))

Last but not least some screenshots:

Rick, the project author, seems to have heath and work problems so the projects is going to stall. Developers wanted !
:thanks:
