I'm trying to convert a number of mkv files into windows media format to play on another device. The mkv is made up of ...

h264/AVC, 704x400 24p /1.001
VORBIS
Subtitle (ASS)
Subtitle (SRT)

I've tried a lot of tools listed on the forums, but being new, I can't do much more than let the programs run on their own and try to do everything without much input from me. The Windows Encoder seems to be able to convert the audio and the video, but can't handle subtitles. I've tried other programs like HDConvertToX, AutoMKV, AutoGordianKnot, AutoX264 ... but I'm obviously doing something wrong.

Can someone toss me a few pointers on getting this conversion working?

Hi!

It would probably be simpler, and yield better quality results, if you made your Windows Media Format file from your ORIGINAL source material (Presumably a DVD or BluRay), rather than using the intermediate MKV format...

you can remux it into *.ts using tsmuxer. Many ripping GUIs support TS
