I'm a bit confused about the aspect ratio of MPEG files. Here I have an MPEG (MPEG-PS container, MPEG2 video, MPEG1 audio) that has 4/3 or 16/9 display aspect ratio depending on which player I use;
VLC: 16/9
MPC HC: 4/3
MediaInfo muxed: 16/9
MediaInfo demuxed: 4/3
I know I can fix it by changing the DAR to 16/9 with ReStream, but I wonder what's going on here. I thought that MPEG2 stores its DAR in the video stream (and not in the container), but this situation leads me to suspect otherwise. Anyone can clear this up for me?
