CCE Crashes in win2k

Can't seem to find the remedy to this.
everytime i want to load the .vdr cce hangs.
In win98 it runs all good

CCE SP 2.5
p3-933 fsb-133
384 mb ram
win2k (no service pack)
udma-5 HD

Is this a known problem?
searched the forum and ev'body running win2k is having no problemo.

i got a nearby problem too

ifter dvd2svcd starts the cce encoder 2.5 trail and after about 10-20 mins the cce encoder prozess crashed

someone nows the problem ?

We really havent figured out why cce has been crashing tho they are not leaning towards "OverFlow error in cce" as the reason ...and 2 be honest they havent pinned the problem down..things you can do tho

1. Make sure your max and min bitrate are more then 120 bits apart so the max would be 2450 make sure the min is atleast 2330

2. Also some people are saying ram modules could be a cause...to if you have more then 1 stick try taking 1 out and doing it with just the 1 stick or switch the order of the sticks..

3. DO not overclock if you do you must understand your risks of failure are very high.

4. try 2 unistall cce and reinstall the program.

5. Make sure you leave your virutal memory settings 2 default let windows handle this because cce can crash if settings are 2 low

look into the virtualdub folder.

you will find auxsetup and aviproxy

try to activate or deactivate each of them independendly

I don't know exactle which of them is needed, but I'm sure that one of them will fix your problem.

You can also try to save your name.vdr as name.avi

I have the same problem.
i will do a memorycheck and try using just one mem stick when i get home. I have tried all combination of handler on/off, aviproxy on/off, naming .vdr/.avi and even back-versions of vdub.

i also have the same problem.
cce always hangs up, when encoding in multipass mode, the vaf-file is no problem, but when the encoded mpv reaches the size of about 800 MB he simply hangs up and does not continue.
I just tried all of the tips (vdub auxsetup and proxyoff, max and min bitrate, also tried with only one mem stick...)
Is there something like a VIA or AMD-Bug with CCE, cause my Hd is located at the VIA-Controller (ASUS A7V133), i have an athlon 1400 thunderbird.
tried cce with dvd2svcd under 2k and also under Win98SE, both have the same problem, also when i try it with the avs file which dvd2avi created.
does anybody know what else it could be?

1. deinstall cce

2. install cce

3. use apcompat.exe from the windows 2000 cd (in support-dir)
enable win nt 4 sp5
enable make settings permanent

4. use cce-patcher 0.2.5 to crack the cce

CCE would always hang when i used VBR. Always OK with CBR.
I then started to rip all but the end credits that contains white text on black background (usually last chapter of movie). After that, no problem!

Hi BomDigi,

i'm just curious - why don't you install a service pack? - I mean, they are there for a special reason - to fix bugs and so on. And in the case of your udma-5 harddrive they come with native udma-5 support for it for example. And in the case of Win2k the service packs fixed a lot of stability issues (from my own experience as i'm using Win2k since it's first release). So why not just install the latest (SP2) and see if this fixes your CCE troubles? ;)

I had the same problem under w2k (under w98 cce worked). My solution was stopping all overclocking of mainboard/cpu. Now cce runs perfectly...
