View Full Version : Using VD(M) to rip AC3 from DVD

I want to rip the audio from a DVD as an AC3 file.
I tried using VDM to load the first VOB and selecting "load linked segments", but I still only got the first one. I suppose I could demux the audio stream for each of them and join them in some audio program, but is there a simpler way?
Is there a VD equivalent to the "streams" menu of VDM? I'm new to both programs.
Thanks!

Try DGIndex. Load all or needed VOBs, select needed fragment and save with "demux all tracks" checkbox checked. Then find your audio near the DGindex project file. And no need to join anything.
P.S.
VDM is old program. IMHO, its shouldn't be used for any purpose.

@aslaksen
Hi!
1) Load your DVD
2) Set DVD Decrypter to "IFO" mode
3) DVD Decrypter should automatically highlight/select the main
movie under the "Input" tab
4) Click on the "Stream Processing" tab and check "Enable
stream processing"
5) UNcheck all of the videostreams and audiostreams OTHER
THAN THE ONE YOU WISH TO EXTRACT.
6)HIGHLIGHT the stream you wish to extract
7) Click on "Demux"
8) Click on the "Destination" icon and select the drive/folder
location to save the audiostream to
9) Click on the "Decrypt" icon
Note - For an LPCM stereo audiostream, you may have to go
to:
Tools>>Settings>>IFO Mode and increase the VOB/WAV size from
1Gb to 2Gb, in order to be sure to generate only one .VOB/WAV file for
the entire audiostream

Thanks to both of you! The DVD Decrypter method worked beautifully. Will try the DGIndex next time.

Dear Keiyakusha, I decided to try to DGIndex method, too. Especially since DVD Decrypter is no longer developed. It worked fine. Thanks!

The easiest method for me is extracting streams with PgcDemux (http://download.videohelp.com/jsoto/tools/PgcDemux_1205_exe.zip). Open it, then in first field Input IFO browse for IFO which contains movie, in second filed Output Folder browse for output folder, in Options select Demux all audio streams, and click on Process button. That's it! :)

You can also try MPlayer.
Assume your DVD drive is H:
mplayer dvd:// -dvd-device H: -dumpaudio -dumpfile demuxed.ac3
