DivX 5.0 + VBR MP3 = Sync issue when demuxed

I have this .avi, where video is 25FPS DivX 5.0, and audio is a VBR MP3.

Video and audio are synced fine the way it is. Plays fine in every player.

The problem is, I can't find a way to demux video and audio, without having sync issues.

I tried Virtualdub and VirtualdubMOD (they both show that VBR warning). When I try to save .WAV with full processing mode in virtualdub, I get sync issues. When I try to demux stream with VirtualdubMOD, I get sync issues too.

I tried to open the .AVI in goldwave and sabe as WAV. I get sync issues that way too.

It is always a small sync issue. Like 200 - 250ms or so. And it is not constant. Video starts synced, and by the end of it, the audio is not synced by some 200 - 250ms.

So, this file plays fine and synced the way it is, but I can't find a way to demux video and audio, without having sync issues.

Can anyone help?

Did you use VirtualDub 1.8.8 (or above)? It supports VBR mp3 completely (although it still shows the message, on purpose).

Yes, I am using Vdub 1.8.8 build 30091, and I still can't demux or decompress .wav without having sync problems. Like I said, the video and audio are synced fine the way it is, inside the .avi. I just can't find a way to either demux video + audio or decompress .wav, without having sync problems after the operation.

What is the actual duration of the MP3 after you demux and decode it to WAV compared to the actual duration of the video?

When I demux to .wav, the audio has the same 1h:49m as the original. Like I said, I only get about some 200ms difference in sync. Audio and video starts synced, and by the end of the video, it is not synced by some 200ms... This onlu happens when I try to demux audio and video. The original .avi file is 100% synced.

Any ideas?

What are the actual durations? Saying that they're 1h:49 minutes is not much help when we're talking about a sync offset of 200ms.

Drop the WAV into an editor and make sure you can see a timestamp down to the millisecond. VirtualDub will help you out with the video duration.

1) What are you trying to accomplish by demuxing and remuxing this file?

2) Load the file into VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod, or NanDub.
Set BOTH "Video"(VirtualDub,
VirtualDubMod and NanDub) and "Audio"
(VirtualDub and NanDub - VirtualDubMOD>"Streams>"Stream
list") to "Direct Stream Copy".

A) If the difference between audio and video is constant
throughout the video:

From the "Audio" dropdown menu, select "Interleaving" (For
VirtualDubMOD, rightclick on the listed audiostream and then
select "Interleaving")

Under "Audio skew correction", set an appropriate number of
milliseconds (positive or negative) in the box labelled "Delay
audio track by"

Save with a new filename

B) If the difference increases as the movie plays:

From under the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Framerate" -
and select "Change so video and audio durations match"

Save with a new filename
