View Full Version : Avidemux 2.6 - Alpha Testing (NOT for real work!)

First let me make the following very clear :
* The version in developement is 2.5
* 2.6 is really work in progress, you cannot do anything at all with it at the moment
* So for your real world editing stick to 2.5

Ok, that being said, 2.6 is advancing.
The main purpose is rewriting all the low level parts of avidemux, that are now quite old.
2.6 is based on 2.5 but adds muxer and demuxers as plugins too.
They are both TIME BASED.

What i'd be interested in are the following :
* Does the a/v sync work ?
* Is it able to load files ?

You cannot save , they are no filters, it will crash on playback if there is no audio track, it will crash if you load several files.

That being said, here is a win32 binary for testing only, it is not a clean one like gruntster's, just a zip file.

http://fixounet.free.fr/2.6/2.6alpha1.zip

Again for real work, use 2.5!

it is worth mentionning, that the sync should be ok for mpeg TS/PS/FLV/MKV
even with variable frame rate
Make sure you have audio set to win32 and video set to SDL/DirectX

Will have atry and test what your needing to know in next day or so.

Time Based for demux-remux... You don't mean real time do you ?

I think having access in AviDemux to filters and plugins that virutaldubs and avisynths have would be nice to use in AviDemux. Easy then for all users to use their favourites and have more video tweaking abilty. This i thought after looking and trying out, the current AviDemux filters.

Wiill have a look over at your AviDemux forum soon, never knew one existed.

No. It means "with respect to timing information", so even VFR (variable frame rate) files should now be handled with proper sync.

VirtualDub's Plugin interface is not compatible to Avidemux.

Also VirtualDub is "hardcoded" to Micorosft Windows, while Avidemux is cross-platform. So building an Avidemux-wrapper for VDub Plugins is near-to-impossible.

Anyway, Avidemux does support Avisynth input and Avisynth can use VDub Filters. So...

AviSynth ok i guess they get input through the settings, will have to get some and try it.

Not loading with v2.6a

MPEG2 - idx is made [.mpg]
Transport Stream [.ts]
Windows media video [.wmv]
Quicktime [.mov]
H264 [.mp4 from youtube]
I263 [.avi]
MP43 [.avi]

Loaded correctly in both 2.6a and 2.5 b4763.

Flash Video [.flv]
YV12 [.avi]
Xvid [.avi]

All of the above loaded correctly with v2.5 b4763 I263 green screen [plays ok with vlc - with an unknown audio codec]

All after been loaded by v2.5 b4763 loaded ok. Those that didn't work with v2.6a previous do now. Except for the .mpg [Cannot find a demuxer > Could not open the file] and that was only with using the v2.5 .idx file with it, wouldn't load without it.

Noticed when loaded both the .mpg [in v2.5] and the .ts [in v2.5, v2.6] showed in 4:3 aspect. Where both are 16:9 they show 16:9 in both mpc and vlc ok.

Mulder, do you know if there are any plans to support native VC-1 video input in Avidemux ? By 'native' I mean without the need to use Avisynth through AvsProxy.

No, I have no info on that. But I guess it's not a priority. Also VC-1 support depends on the availability of a working VC-1 decoder in libavcodec/ffmpeg.

I don't know what the state of VC-1 support in ffmpeg is, because I don't care about VC-1 at all...

How without avsproxy or avisynth installed, can i use the avisynth filters within avidemux ?

I have tried all day and still no avisynth are loaded.

I tried avsproxy I don't know why, i really didn't want to. It told me to install avisynth, so i did v2.58.

Next running avsproxy and connecting did both v2.5 and v2.4 start complaining about many missing .dll's. Only after uninstalling avisynth and running v2.5 avidemux did it stop complaining the need for those .dll's.

Anyway i didn't want to use avsproxy or have installed avisynth. Just use avisynth filters in avidemux from a folder as is. But how to do this task, please tell. :)

So no avidemux filters or avisynth filters can be used ... mmm

Time for planB virtualdub :D

btw. The most wanted plugin besides some others was the VDMod_Resize.vdf (vitualdubmod v1.6.0.0 surround\plugins\) best video resize tool i have ever seen on any program yet. Maybe this one, could be converted to be used with avidemux. ;)

What? If you use Avidemux with Avisynth input (through AVSProxy) you can use Avisynth filters. And of course you can apply Avidemux filters inside Avidemux afterwards.

Nexin,

I don't know why you are so hesitant to use the AVSproxy which works great...

And Mulder, I too don't care for VC1 but its contents.:D
