@all WDTV owners,

I have just ordered one of those little Western Digital Media Players and I am just thinking on how to archive or store data. I can't bring a long network cable from my working room to my living room, so I just went with PowerLine. This is fine for some copying, but too slow for streaming.

First of all I wanted to buy a little NAS which receives the files from my working room via Network and which is connected to the WDTV. Unfortunately most of the dual bay NAS have the same USB 2.0 as the WDTV does, which means that both devices expect an external HDD and can't be connected to each other.

Then I tried to probably get some kind of dual bay, connect it via USB 2.0 to the WDTV and use the modified firmware to connect a USB 2 Ethernet adaptor to it, to use the WDTV to be the NAS.

Unfortunately some thoughts destroyed this. When connecting one of those dual bays to a PC, it's easily possible to access both HDD's with just one cable, but i.e. Popcorn-Hour does not like this and just recognizes one disk.

What I would like to know, is anyone out there who tried to connect i.e. a dual bay (which one) to a WDTV with just one cable where the WDTV recognizes both HDD's ?

Would be of great help for me.

Best regards and many thanks in advance.

Andy.
