Need help with scene Detection

I capture game videos and I would like to cut out the in-between Character selections. There are always set scenes (and audio) to the beginning and ending selections. Any ideas on how I can do this via video or audio?

ah, that would be nice if I wanted a blank screen, but I want to search for a certain snapshot that will be the same at certain times through the capture. Or if I could do it for audio, that would be nice as well.

Tough one, eh? Any ideas anyone?

I wonder if there is a way I can search for an audio sample as well...either method could work...
