View Full Version : BD Rebuilder & Windows 7 Build 7100!!!
BD Rebuilder does not works with Windows 7 RC, even in XP mode!!!
Does anyone has any luck?
Nope, and probably wont for a while. Judging as it's an RC release, it will take time for people to even get close to installing it.
And if it fails in XP mode, then Microsoft = fail.

...It's no surprise that "XP-Mode" fails. It is basically just Windows XP run inside a VM with extra bells and whistles to make it feel more integrated.
It works fine in Windows 7 from many reports. But as this guy has said don't expect any support with it.

It use to work with build 7000, but not with latest RC version...

Oh ok...doesn't change anything though ;)
It's still in beta technically, can't expect it to work and prolly can't expect jdobbs to give support on it.
...Dunno his stance on it though.

Let's see..... A beta software program not working correctly with a beta OS? Why would this surprise anyone? :)
You can't blame Microsoft or jdobbs for this happening or expect any kind of support at all. At least wait for Windows 7 to be officially released. Untl then developers are just trying to aim at a moving target. I'm sure jdobbs has more than enough on his plate just getting BD Rebuilder to work properly with current OS's and underlying utilities.

Not really blaming anyone!
We are just beta testers and we post results to see if anyone has any work around for this new OS...
About the XP mode, this also prove that it is not 100 % compatible as MS claime... :)

Cut out with the ms hate crap please.
MS haven't said it's 100% compatible, if you don't like it go and use linux. Good luck with that mate! :p

It doesn't prove anything...its a beta!!!!
Its hard enough to find a workaround for the issues that crop up with the BD-Rebuilder beta... toss an unsupported beta OS into the mix and you're just asking for problems, in my view. When something goes wrong with your setup, you don't really know which direction to look. If you were talking about an issue with DVD Rebuilder, a mature program, I could understand...

At which point you get problems running RC1?
I did install MatroskaSplitter, AVISynth and ffdshow. After that I started BDRebuilder and now its reencoding a Blu-Ray. Actually running without problems.

KarstenS;
As soon as x64.exe tries to encode, process freeze. I am using BD Rebuilder v0.20.0.8 and last K-Lite Codeck Pack. This combination works correctly in my XP sp3 partition.
What versions of BD Rebuilder, MatroskaSplitter, AVISynth, and ffdshow do you installed?
Are you running any of this programs, including BD Rebuilder in "compatibility mode" ?
So far all of my applications work correctly with Windows 7, including old programs like Wordperfect 8, gwbasic, visual basic, etc.
I am only having trouble with BD Rebuilder.
Thanks for your help...

Get rid of that :)
ffdshow should do all the decoding you need, possibly with "Real\Quicktime Alternative" if it can't decode all that stuff too.
I've seen a few countless posts by people stating that those codec packs cause problems, think jdobbs recommends them as a definate no-no.
Sorry for appearing to take the thread off topic. :)

I've installed the versions that are actually downloadable.
AviSynth: 2.5.8 (30. Dec 2008)
MatroskaSplitter: from 11/01/2009 (where i can find version?)
ffdshow: beta6_rev2527_20081219 (from http://ffdshow-tryout.sourceforge.net/).

I do run nothing in compatibility mode.
I am running Windows7 x64 RC1.
I thin your K-Lite codec pack may be the source of problems you have.

BD Rebuilder does not works with Windows 7 RC, even in XP mode!!!
Does anyone has any luck? I just have to say that if BD Rebuilder is working with the current XP and Vista versions, but not with one of the releases of Windows 7 -- I have to point to Windows 7 as the source of issue.
Neither BD Rebuilder nor DVD Rebuilder currently support Windows 7, and probably will not until commercial release. At that point, if there are still issues I'll see if I can identify and correct them.
My thanks to Turbojet for his identification of the issue and providing a fix.
