View Full Version : Failed Movies PiP

I thought maybe it was a good idea where people could report films that currently can't be successfully and fully backed up to BD25 because of problems such as PiP. This might save people a lot of time trying to do a title that can't currently be done (i recently did Max Payne and it was already known that it couldn't be fully backed up, )
List as follows
Wanted (UK)
Max Payne (UK)
The Mummy 3 (UK)
Madagascar Escape 2 Africa (UK)
The Bourne Trilogy
Twilight
The Mummy
The Mummy 2 (I think)
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Bedtime Stories (uk)
I have added some of these but i have just done Bedtime Stories (uk) and it backed up fine, all extras and main movie work fine with HD Audio.
There are some others, will update as i remember or people post...

Unable to do a full backup:
Bedtime Stories (uk)
(OK at movie only)
Although the pip doesn't work, atleast with bd-25 if you don't touch the audio the discs work fine, whereas if you do them to bd-9 it converts the audio and screws up the mapping so that they are no longer compatible with Sony standalones (although the audio is there and can be played on a pc).
Add to the ones you have:
The Bourne Trilogy
Twilight
The Mummy
The Mummy 2 (I think)
The Day the Earth Stood Still
Can anyone who knows how to edit the structure give advice as to how to change the bd-9s (which we know have the audio present) to be seen on a standalone?

Personally don't see why jdobbs doesn't just add PIP encoding, would clear up this mess in 1 fell swoop. It's only another video track afterall and the feature is there in tsmuxer to correctly mux it all together into an m2ts just some behind the scenes work todo.
I thought in his last post he said he was working on pip?

I can't get TSMUXER to demux the audio (Max Payne as an example).

I have done The Bourne Trilogy, the day the earth stood still and twilight with no problems at full backup to 25bdr.

Screws up the audio? How?
...lol it doesn't play! (no audio\subs selectable)
We had this discussion a couple of months ago and you acknowledged the problem mister memory sieve ;)
It's the problem regarding "Some universal titles have problems with sony standalones etc..." :)

You must have misunderstood. I never acknowledge any problems. ;)
I have a Sony standalone and I've never seen it. Any ideas what it is doing? Does it work if it is reencoded to AC3?
What does "screws up the mapping" mean? Telling me I can't remember doesn't help. I already know that.

lol...
Well, basically a few people (myself included) have had the problem where after encoding with BDRB the main movie plays with no audio or subs. No matter what you do you cannot get audio or subs to player (pressing the button on the remote simply does nothing, nothing appears on screen to indicate there is even an audio\sub track present on the disc).
Extras however play perfectly.
For me, I experienced the problem on "The Matrix". It seems to only affect sony players and when you recode the audio to Dolby Digital. I haven't actually ever had it working which it seems to from what the members above say with untouched audio (I tested it before you corrected the mapping in the last 2 releases) as I'm waiting on you to release a version of BDRB that handles PiP tracks like I did for HD audio.
I'm not technically adept in this area at all so don't ask me for the "details" ;)

I have also had a few movies where this has happened, but only when burned to DVD media. Those same movies burned to BD media played fine, audio and subs, on my BDP-BX1. I even reported a while back taking a full movie backup on bd-5 media into a local Fry's store and tested it on several blue ray players, including LG, Samsung 1500 & 2500 and a Sony BDP-350 and 550. Also tested on a Sony BDP-301 and the audio and subs worked. This was the only player that it worked on. However, I have only made about 7-8 BD-25 backups, and every one has played the audio and subs back perfectly, with several using 640kbps AC3 and a few with the DTS-HD Master Audio. Of course there have been a few that I have not been able to get BD-RB to successfully back up, so those have not been tested. :)
The audio problem only seems to occur when doing to bd-9. The reason I said it was something screwed up is that a pc will play the disc and find the audio, as will a ps3 if you play the m2ts file.
