22" LCD Recommendation

I'm looking to upgrade current 17" LCD monitor. This monitor will be used for watching Blu-ray/HD DVD content and general internet browsing. Price range is <$300. My video card is 8800gt. Thanks.

I'd recommend a full resolution (1920x1080) 16:9 shaped monitor. Something like the following: -

Is that US dollars?

You can get an Acer X243HQ (very important to get the exact model name correct, example for Acer is the X243HQ is the high end model, V243HQ the budget)

The X243HQ is going for as low as $256 in Australia ($296 without the Acer Cashback), that in US dollars is around $190.

I should mention thats a 23.6 (24) inch monitor, 16:9 so good for movies :)

Yes, US dollars. Thanks for the recommendation. I have been looking at the Dell UltraSharp™ 2209WA as I've heard that IPS is better than TN. Although this monitor is only 1680x1050. I'll take a look at the Acer.

I have an Asus VW222U myself, looking online places around the world are still selling them even though they are an old model now. At the time it was an exceptional monitor, although newer monitors are better. The Asus 26 inch suggested by someone on here would be very good, but price wise may not be an option.

I have seen the Acer 24 inch monitors, they are really nice, but I haven't used one myself for any length of time. I believe you have to adjust the brightness etc manually yourself on the monitor, just like the Asus monitors (they are often too bright)!

From what I've heard, stay clear of Benq. Out of TN panels, really only the Excel series (X series) Acer and Asus it what i'd recommend.

If one of the intention's is to play Blu-ray movies, then personally I can't see the point of having a monitor with a resolution higher than 1920x1080, as some form of upscaling pixel interpolation will have to take place...

I'll take a look at the Acer.You should take a look at newegg.com's deals on Asus monitors. I think the 21.5" is $150 AR, is 1920x1080, and has some very nice video-friendly specs wrt response time and contrast ratio.

BTW if *space* is not an issue, you shouldn't limit yourself to 22" given prices these days. I already want to move from my 24" 1920x1200 and get a 30" 2560x1600 for video editing reasons.

I have a BENQ T2200HD.
It is a cheap, fullHD(1920×1080) monitor.
It is very good for watching movies because of the 16:9 AR.
