Deleting selected areas from video with staxrip

I loaded a file on staxrip and before the encoding I previewed the video to cut some parts.
I followed the instructions, selected specific areas and then tried to delete them. They seemed as they were deleted but as I was going the (cursor)bar back and forth after deleting I could still see the frames that I supposedly deleted...
And then after the cut when I go to add the job to start encoding the video the duration -time length- of the video seems to be the same as before.
Finally the encoding finishes and there is nothing deleted...
Is there something I am missing or doing wrong?

Staxrip seems a bit misleading to me in this area. Instead of cutting the commercials via highlighting the part and pressing deleting it does the opposite. It erases the non-highlighted parts. So I have to highlight everything that I want it to remain and the rest of it gets deleted.
At least it works this way.
